Baby Shower Ideas
 When
you have a baby shower, it may seem a little overwhelming, especially
if you are far along, and even more so if you are planning the baby
shower yourself. Often this isn’t the case, though, because
many times friends or family members like to throw the baby shower
in the expectant mother’s honor. But it does happen sometimes
that the mother is throwing the shower herself or is helping to
plan the shower, and it is good to be prepared when this happens.
One of the best tips for having a baby shower is to invite the perfect
number of people. For every new mom, this number will vary greatly,
it all depends on the type of shower you want to have. If you want
to invite every person you know to share in the celebration of your
new baby, then it is best to simply have some cake and gifts opened,
and visit with the guests.
If, however, you prefer to have a more intimate women-only shower
with games, you will need to try to keep it limited. The best number
for a baby shower with games is under 15 people. If possible, it
is better to have even fewer than that. Ten is an excellent number.
You should remember, however, that usually about half of the invited
guests will actually show up (this is not always true, though, sometimes
all guests will show up and some will even bring a friend, so you
may have more than expected).
If you will be having games, there are a variety of baby shower
game books available in your local bookstore, and they include such
games as guessing how many sheets of toilet paper it will take to
wrap around the new mom’s bulging belly. Tradition when playing
games at a baby shower is that all prizes given to winners be something
that is intended for the baby, and the winners give the prizes to
the new mom before leaving the baby shower.
It is a great idea before the shower to register at your favorite
stores for baby products. You should always do more than one store,
preferably including a variety of prices. This way, everyone can
afford to get you something on your list. Not everyone will, for
a variety of reasons, but you may get a lot of items that are on
the lists. Once you have registered, you can list those on the baby
shower invitations.
The most important thing about having a baby shower is to relax
and enjoy yourself. Pregnant women do not need any stress, and the
baby shower should be no exception. If you are feeling stressed
planning your own baby shower, enlist help of a friend or family
member, or even hand the whole project over to them.
