Bottle feeding

Bottle feeding your baby
While
doctors attest that breast feeding is the best and healthiest method
of feeding a baby, many parents opt to bottle feed instead. Baby
formula has expanded a lot over the years to include all the nutrients
that babies need. The only thing, really, that a bottle fed baby
lacks is the benefit of the mother’s immune system. While
the bonding time isn’t quite as strong for bottle fed babies,
they get to share that time with dad as much as mom, and this can
have its own benefits. So, if you aren’t able to breast feed
or you simply don’t have the desire, unless your baby is born
premature, he will likely turn out to be a perfectly healthy baby
regardless of whether or not he breast fed.
If you do choose to bottle feed your baby, it is important to know
that not all nipples, bottles, or formulas will work for your baby.
Every baby is different, and bottles are available in a wide variety,
as are formulas. Some nipples and bottles allow more air to escape
than others, and some formulas do not sit well on baby’s tummy.
This means that bottle feeding is really a trial and error experience,
and you should pay close attention to whether or not your baby spits
up a lot, or seems to have stomach pain a lot. If either of these
are the case, you may want to switch bottles and talk to your pediatrician
about switching formulas, as well.
