Drinking Caffeinated Sodas

Drinking Caffeinated Sodas While Pregnant
When
it comes to caffeinated sodas during pregnancy, medical opinions
vary widely. Some doctors encourage their patients to limit or cut
out caffeine while others suggest that moderate caffeine use will
do no harm. The reason for such differing opinions is largely because
studies have been somewhat inconclusive. There are studies that
show a link between birth defects and caffeine usage, but these
studies failed to consider the tobacco and alcohol usage of the
participants involved.
Most doctors will agree, however, that it is wise
to drink fewer caffeinated sodas because they can rob the body of
essential nutrients such as iron and calcium. These are especially
important to a pregnant woman who needs more vitamins and minerals
than normal to support her own body and the growth of her unborn
child.
