Parenting - Asking for Help

When
a new parent brings a baby home from the hospital, it is often very
difficult to ask for any kind of help. This can make parents feel
as though they are incapable of handling things on their own. It
is important to be able to ask for help when you need it, though.
This may mean enlisting the help of the other parent (even if they
are the one working and need more sleep at night) or even asking
grandparents for help.
Often, it isn’t even necessary to ask for
help from grandparents though, because they have been there before
and they know what it’s like so they will most likely offer.
Many new parents have a grandparent or other relative stay with
them for a week or so after baby is born. This can offer much needed
relief for new parents, so if you have this option it is something
you should consider. Not only will it allow you to get at least
a little more sleep (which makes you better able to care for baby
during your awake hours), but it can allow you to have a few breaks
that can help ease any frustration you may begin to feel.
