Some
parents may not realize the importance of gum care on a baby, but
it is very important. Whether a baby breast or bottle feeds, their
main nutritional intake consists of quite a bit of sugar. And, even
though the baby doesn’t yet have teeth, there are still teeth
just under the surface of the gums and any sugar that settles on
the gums for long periods can rot teeth that have yet to even break
the skin. This is especially true of babies who drink bottles and
even more true when it is juice that a baby is drinking.
So, to prevent your baby from needing a trip to
the dentist before they even have lost any baby teeth naturally,
you should always clean their gums after drinking from a bottle.
There are many products available that can help parents to do this,
and if you don’t have access to any of these, you can simply
clean the gums with a warm washrag.
