If
you are unsure how to decorate your baby’s room, read
the below suggestions for some ideas:
• Animal Themes—there are a variety of these
to choose from. You can use a Noah’s Ark theme for your
baby’s room (a very popular choice), and this not only
relates your religious beliefs, but is also cute and enjoyable
for babies. There are also a variety of other choices when
it comes to animal-themed baby rooms. You can choose a group
of animals, such as farm animals or even safari animals and
prints, or you can pick one particular type of animal to decorate
your baby’s room. Many popular choices include ducks,
bears, and more. These are often available with a girl or
boy focus, and many are neutral.
• Clowns—this is one of the timeless theme selections
that many parents love. It is usually accompanied by bright
basic colors, which means you can use it for a boy or a girl.
Since many preschoolers love clowns as well, you also probably
won’t have to change this theme too quickly. There are
also clown themes available with pastel colors instead of
the basic darker colors, and these can work well for a boy
or a girl, but don’t last as long for the child as they
get older.
• Transportation—this is usually a theme that
is only used for boys, and it consists of such things as boats,
trucks and cars. There are many types available that work
great for a baby’s room. You can pick one individual
form of transportation, or you can stick with a certain color
format, but use a variety of transportation types for pictures,
etc.
• Flowers—many parents pick flowers for their
little girl’s bedroom theme, and some types of flowers
are available in pastels, while others are brighter colors.
Parents who pick bright colors are often doing so to make
the room theme last as long as possible.
• Cartoon Characters—this is one of the most
used themes of all, although it changes as the popularity
of cartoons change. Some of the typical baby room cartoon
themes are baby Looney Tunes, Peanuts, Winnie the Pooh, Rugrats,
and more. While your baby obviously won’t know who the
characters are yet, they will develop an appreciation of their
room decorations later (usually about preschool age), once
they begin watching the shows.
• Color Schemes—some parents simply choose to
stick with color schemes for their baby’s room as opposed
to picking a specific theme. There can be many benefits to
doing this: they won’t likely have to repaint the baby’s
room as soon as others, they have more choices for pictures,
sheets and other decorative items, color schemes are usually
more neutral than many themes (unless, of course, you pick
a pink and purple palette). Some of the popular color schemes
include bright colors, pastel colors, or the make-your-baby-smart
black, white and red scheme.
Whatever theme you choose for your baby’s room, know
that how the nursery looks is not what’s important,
and will soon be forgotten when everyone is focused on the
baby in the room, not the walls or decorations. So if you
are having a hard time deciding how to do the baby’s
room, relax and wait until a particular theme stands out for
you.
