When
buying your baby sunglasses, you should consider the following
to be able to get the most use out of them:
• Try them on your baby in the store—if the sunglasses
don’t go over the ears properly, or sit strangely on
your baby’s nose, it isn’t likely that she will
wear them for long at all. So, to get the most wear out of
the glasses, you will want to make sure they fit right. Check
all angles to see if there is space between the glasses and
skin where there shouldn’t be, as well as to see if
they fit a little too tightly. If the sunglasses aren’t
comfortable, your baby won’t wear them enough for her
eyes to be protected from damaging sun rays.
• Get spring-hinged glasses—while these may be
a lot more expensive than sunglasses without a spring-hinge,
you will have to buy a new pair as often as every few days
without having the proper hinge that can withstand a baby’s
experimental attitude with sunglasses.
Once you have bought sunglasses for your baby to wear, you
should follow the tips below to prevent them from becoming
broke or lost too soon:
• Use a band—bands that go around the back of
your baby’s head can help keep the sunglasses in place,
and can keep them from getting lost. You should always watch
your baby closely while they have one of these on, though.
• Keep the sunglasses put up—instead of letting
your little one play with them while indoors or whenever else
they may want to, you should keep them up until they need
to be used. It is a good idea to keep a pair of baby sunglasses
in the car for use only while driving. Then you can also have
a pair in your diaper bag for use at the park or pool. If
you get your baby accustomed to having to put the glasses
up when getting out of the car or going indoors, the sunglasses
will last much longer than if you just let the baby play with
them all the time.
Sunglasses can be a great thing for babies to wear. They
can make car trips much easier on your baby’s eyes,
and they can prevent damage that can be done by the sun. By
following the tips above, you can help your baby get the most
use of their sunglasses.
