Toddlers
are the busiest little people. They have a little body full
of energy and enough curiosity to keep them occupied in a
room full of the most ordinary things. Choosing toys for them
is fairly easy because they like everything. They are still
developing their own interests, so they are really not very
picky when it comes to toys. The best toddler toy guide is
one that takes their different levels of development into
consideration.
Any toy that allows a toddler to use up their energy and
get their wiggles out is sure to be a winner. Many of these
toys can be used indoors or out. Ride on toys in fun and whimsical
designs are a favorite for these little tykes. Large bouncing
balls will also provide hours of entertainment for toddlers
that love to bounce, throw and chase things around. Toddlers
love to play outside. Outdoor toys such as sandboxes and wading
pools are appropriate for this age group but they do require
adult supervision.
Besides being extremely active, toddlers are also extremely
curious. They love to figure out how things work. They do
this by taking things apart or moving them from one place
to another. They are also learning cause and effect. This
is why they seem to really test their limits, and yours too,
during this stage. Take-apart toys, puzzles and building blocks
are perfect toys for toddlers.
It is during this stage, 18 months to 3 years, that children
begin to develop a great imagination. Toys that appeal to
this great sense of fantasy are super fun for toddlers and
very appropriate. Play sets, dress-up clothes and dolls are
fun for this group of toddlers. Pretend money and cash registers
are also a fun option. Story books are a treasure as toddlers
begin to have slightly expanded attention spans and love to
venture into the land of make-believe.
As young children progress their way through toddler-hood
they become more and more coordinated. They love to use their
hands to manipulate items and create things. Art and craft
time is so much fun for them. Finger-paints and large crayons
are a great way for your little one to explore her creative
side. Just be sure to get the washable versions because all
toddlers are bound to use the wall as their canvas from time
to time.
Toddlers are playful creatures by nature. They love to play
from morning until night. This is how they learn and explore
the world that they live in. By following the tips in this
toddler toy guide, you can choose toys that nurture your child’s
learning and development and allow him to get his wiggles
out at the same time.
