Mira Sorvino Expecting Second Child
Actress Mira Sorvino, 38, and her husband, Chris Backus, 24, are
expecting their second child, according to
People magazine. Mattea Angel, the couple's first child, was born
in November 2004. Sorvino is the daughter of actor Paul Sorvino.
She's been nominated for a Golden Globe this year for her role in
the Lifetime miniseries, Human Trafficking. (1-17-06)
Breastfeeding Duration Linked to Future Obesity
An infant's risk of being overweight in the future declines the
longer they are breastfed, according to a study in The American
Journal of Epidemiology. The study found that breastfeeding for
one month reduced the risk by 4 percent, and breastfeeding at least
nine months reduced the risk by 30 percent. (1-11-06)
Sextuplets Born in the Dominican Republic
Maxima Perez, 33, from the Dominican Republic, has given birth to
sextuplets, according to hospital officials at the Plaza de la Salud
medical center in the capital, Santo Domingo. The three males and
three females were the first sextuplets ever recorded in this country.
The babies were all delivered by C-section and weighed about 2 pounds

A Big Announcement for John Melendez
John Melendez, announcer for the Tonight Show, and his wife, Suzanna
Melendez, 39, welcomed their third child on New Year's Day, according
to People magazine. The baby boy, who was named Oscar David, weighed
8 pounds, 2 ounces, and was the first baby believed to be born in
San Fernando Valley in 2006. (1-11-06)
Actress Rachel Weisz Expecting
Rachel Weisz, 34, and her fiancé, Darren Aronofsky, are expecting
a baby, according to People magazine. Weisz announced on the Tonight
Show that she is 5 months along. She has been nominated for a Golden

Boxing Champ Oscar De La Hoya a New Dad
Oscar De La Hoya, 32, and his wife, Millie Corretjer, 31, welcomed
their first child, a boy, on December 29, according to People magazine.
Oscar Gabriel weighed 9 pounds, 7 ounces. De La Hoya has two children,
Jabob, 7, and Atiana, 6, from previous relationships. (1-11-06)
It's a Summer Baby for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie, 30, and Brad Pitt, 42, are expecting a baby this
summer, according to People magazine. The baby will be the first
biological child for the couple. Jolie adopted son Maddox, 4, from
Cambodia, and daughter Zahara, 1, from Ethiopia. Pitt has taken
steps to adopt both children and change their names to Jolie-Pitt.
